I first bought an eyeshadow way back in 2007. OK not too long ago. I was looking for a matte black eyeshadow and I got the Lakme Moondust quad then. I've bought 2 more Moondust quads since then. Not because I finished the product, but because I broke it! Oh and I got one as a back up. Yes, I used to be a hoarder. The makeup blog detox diet last year cured me. I swear!
But then by 2009 or 10, I think I bought the rest of these quads and this is one pre beauty blogging shopping decision I don't regret! Ooh I have a million of those!Price: Rs 425. I got these for Rs 325 long back! And that was awesome!
General thoughts on Lakme Quads-
These are buttery and smooth. Most of the colours are beautifully pigmented. and last well on a base like a MAC Paintpot or a Maybelline Color Tattoo. These are easy to blend. See I don't really have
Quad 1: Peacock
I remember being extremely excited about this quad more than the others. I honestly love the texture and pigmentation of all the colours in this quad, but the 2 highlight colours (the violet and purple based) are way too shiny for highlighters. And why 2 highlighters in 2 colours? One (the purple based one) is more than enough in my opinion. I wish it were just satiny and not as shiny though. But lightly applied, these might work. But I still cant stand the silvery shiny stuff all the way up to your brow bone makeup! Too tacky! The silvery frost clashes against the Indian skintone and isn't highlighting anything nice! And Lakme is an Indian brand! (If only I had a 1000 rupee note for every time I said that! Phew!) Also, I wish it were more like champagne coloured. And a mild rose gold colour for the eyelid. The Purple and Violet colours are gorgeous, but the quad feels incomplete!

First 2 rin soap type colours, The blue green pretty thing that I hope to use. The gorgeous teal that I swear I will use in one successful look!
Quad 4: Moondust
This out of the entire lot, has the hardest (in texture) eyeshadows. But you know, it works in the favour of the quad. The steel grey silver is very 90s. It clashes against my warm Indian skin tone and as you already know or figured out just now (genius!) I'm not the go to eyeshadow using person. I'm a typical Indian girl who does kajal (and liner and mascara and only started filling in her eyebrows recently) but no eyeshadow on a regular basis. So I'm only figuring stuff out. And now that I've gotten these (7th time clicked) pictures from my drafts, I'm definitely going to look at more eye looks and try to incorporate these colours in them. The bronze-y brown colour is darker in reality and is duo toned (bronze and matte brown. Look at the second picture below) which can make it easier to wear for some. But on me, this looks like a bruise. (My eye area is darker than the rest of my face) I think I'll try using it in the crease or corners for an extra subtle smokey eye look.
The black is the reason I bought the quad in the first place. You know what, I love it. It's not extremely pigmented and I did have to go over a few times to get the intensity in the photo, but then it's black. It's good that it's sheer. or it would over power the rest of the colours. It's not buttery smooth but I've seen that only the shimmery colours are that easy in this range. It is slightly chalky and there can be fall out if used too much at a time.
The chalky white that looks like chalk, no comments.
I'm really liking peacock!!!

ReplyDeleteI've been trying to get the Peacock quad since quite some time but apparently it's discontinued!!!
I'm so so so tempted to go to Inglot and make my own eyeshadow palette with jewel tones. But as hubby points out each time, I hardly wear eyeshadows.
Haha I just started like a week ago! Mine are scanty! Dint know it was discontinued! Oh and I don't know any Indian woman in India who wears eyeshadow on a daily basis! Not even the beauty bloggers I think. Not only it would it make me feel out of place, it's just too much work! Eyeliner works on most days!
