DIY Hairspray

I swear I am a wannabe DIYer. I think it's so cool when people make their own things and they make really nice presents also. I already gifted a pot of the lipbalm I made to someone. When the guys from Cosmo asked me to create stuff, I went mad creating stuff. and I did make this along with that lipbalm. For someone with normally straight, flat hair,
anything that assures volume and curls (I'm desperate so I settle for waves) grabs my attention. But the chemicals in the ingredient list put me off.  So when I realised I could made my own hairspray, I snooped here and there a little and tried to recreate my own version!

BEFORE- Fairly straight hair that hadn't been washed for 2 days.
Ingredients-
A spray bottle. I used the Mr. Muscle bottle and the Colin cap after cleaning them thoroughly! lol because it's so orangeee! I used a normal 15ml spray bottle(shown in the first picture and later in the post) that I decorated with tape and post-its but ended up making more. This should fit in a regular 15 ml bottle.

In a cup of warm water, add a heaped spoonful of sea salt. This helps is dissolve faster. Mix

Add the gel and the coconut oil and combine. Now transfer it into a spray bottle of your choice.
Shake well and spritz on freshly washed, semi dry (towel dried) hair.
AFTER- This picture was taken almost in the evening compared to the previous picture taken at noon, which is why my hair in't shiny here. Otherwise, the waves din't take the shine away!
Tadaaa!
What have you tried DIYing? Anything super special? I've done tons of scrubs! Let me know if you want me to do those or anything else in particular, I'll try my best! :D

  3. You've got such gorgeous, straight hair...why would you want waves??? I have very wavy hair and I've been resisting the temptation to get them straightened coz I don't want to damage them.

    1. haha thank you Aayushi!!
I think you should keep your hair moisturised and that'll make it fairly manageable. So ALWAYS and I can't stress on this enough.. oil your hair before washing. Condition, and drink pots of water. Other than that, you could try trimming your hair regularly. Since the ends (especially when hair's long) tend to be drier than the rest.
Ooh and leave it open! As much as you can! Keeping it constantly tied up does it no good. *frees hair of the pony as she types this*.

  11. Hi! That recipe seems awesome and I really want to try it!! Except I don't have coconut oil.. any ideas for a substitution? Maybe olive oil? Or would the spray work the same without it?

    1. Olive oil should work too. It's basically so you don't dry up your hair too much & coconut is for the "beachy fragrance"!
