10 Controversial Questions Answered!

I have written an essay on myself in the 'About/Contact' section but I get these questions asked a lot by a lot of you guys and a lot of these questions really leave me stumped! I feel that I need to justify myself sometimes, then I feel like I don't! I feel I don't probably have the right words to answer some questions. But a lot of these  questions are repetitive, so I decided to do this once and for all! Hope you get a laugh if not anything else!

1. When and what made you start blogging? (This is probably the easiest to answer!)
I've always written and doodled, ever since I was little. I wanted to write and so I decided to blog. I dint know what I wanted to write about so that sort of slipped my mind. I've always liked girly stuff. Makeup and colours interested me ever since I can remember. So when I realised that I could actually write about it, I jumped in. After a little bit of fooling around with it, I started my blog in Oct 2010.

2. Do you accept guest posts? Why/ Why not?
I do not accept guest posts. Like I already said, I started blogging to write about makeup. It's my personal space. I love everything about it, Taking pictures, using products and writing. I feel that even if you're new here and have read even 1 post on this blog, you know me a little bit. I'm not saying that that should be your intention/ concern (to get to know me). But I personally like it to be like this. I also enjoy reading posts from people I feel I know even the slightest bit about.
With all due respect to people who have guest bloggers, and guest bloggers themselves, I'm not comfortable sharing my space that way. On a proper, regular basis. If I find something really interesting in the future, I might. But I have no plans of making it a regular thing. You must have seen a couple of posts from my friends in the past here and there's a reason that stopped.
I don't worry about posting everyday and using articles from others as fillers in between mine would make me really lazy about posting. When I don't feel inspired, I won't post that day. For many of you, I'm sure it's like "I don't give a hoot about you or your life! I want a product review!" For me, I use the products that intrigue me, that interest me, that I want to use. I'm not bothered about covering every product in the market, honestly. And I review most of what I buy/own, if not all of them. Moreover, when I read product reviews from some of the bloggers I've been following, I feel like I already know their skin type/ tone/ issues and I do look for reviews from people I know have (skin, type, tone etc) issues similar to mine.
I'm not saying that guest bloggers have no credibility. As a matter of fact, I have written a fair share outside before starting my own blog. They're great! So are the people giving them an opportunity to write without committing to a full time blog. It's just that, for me, it's the whole experience, and a personal touch that matters and I really believe and have experienced the 'too many cooks spoil the broth' thing! All of that or maybe I'm just too territorial.

3. You are not very social. Why?
I don't know exactly what this means because if it's about these blogger meets (from companies etc) I live in Hyderabad! And I really don't know of a meet that has happened here. Even if it did, I dint have any knowledge of it.

4. I added you on Facebook and you dint respond.
I'm really really sorry about this. If I've not responded to your friend request on Facebook it probably just means that I don't know you personally. I do have quite a few blogger friends on my list, and they've been there for years! I do actually know each one of them on a more personal level than just another blogger, But I've made a conscious decision not to add people I do not know on a personal level. It's more than me there. Family, personal pictures, and friends and I'm sure you'll understand the need to keep them away from it, especially since most of them are really private people!
If it helps at all, I have a facebook page & a twitter handle for the blog and I'd be more than happy to keep in touch with everybody there. I hope you understand that I'm in no way being rude.

5. Why don't you make youtube videos?
I've tried! I swear to God, I've tried filming myself. I was dreadful the first time around. Only half of my face was in the frame for the first half! And I had made a video recently, that was a lot more decent, but things happened, I fell sick and I can't, for the life of me learn to edit a damn video. So if someone's willing to teach me that, I might make one! if not anything, it might give us all a laugh, ya?

6. Do you read other blogs?
I do! Not on a daily basis. But I do like to check on some of my favourite bloggers every once in a while.

7. What is your policy on the products you are sent to review? 8. Did you really like the new Maybelline lipglosses? 9. You like the Rimmel lipsticks. Was it sent to you for review or did you buy it on your own?
You know, when I started blogging, I din't get sent products for a very long time and quite honestly that helped because by that time, I had realized that it's a review, good or bad irrespective of weather I bought it or I was sent a product.
Thing is, if I really want to try a product out, I'll buy it anyway. Just because I'm sent something wouldn't change my thought on it. I don't even accept products I'm not interested in trying most of the time! Like recently, I was sent this Maybelline lipgloss, and I dint like the colour. I bought 2 colours (a bright pink & a bright purplish pink) I knew I'd like even though I knew I was being sent a colour from the rage (din't know which) by the pr.
And my very honest theory on this is (because who doesn't like free stuff?)-
When a post says 'pr sample' at the bottom, people reading it are already wondering how honest you're being. Praising the product even a little when it actually is good also makes me wonder if people would actually believe it, like my review on the Maybelline BB stick. But I really liked it and hence bought another one so that's saying something, ya?
People reading blogs aren't dumb. They know a false praise from the truth when they read it. And when you lose your credibility as a blogger, when you lose your readers, you are nothing. Even the companies don't want fake good reviews from people whose blogs nobody reads.
I actually like the new maybelline lipglosses. Colours wise, I like the ones I bought more than the one I was sent for the review.
Whenever I'm sent a product for review, I mention it. not like product sent by pr but like Product sent by PR or something like that. so no. I bought alllll the Rimmel lipsticks I own and while I know I'm making slassy.com super rich, they din't send me anything for free. I bought stuff from them like you do (if you do/did/will do)

10. Do you wear a full face of makeup everyday? /What items of makeup do you use everyday?
I wish I had a glamorous answer for this. I'd have loved to do "my everyday makeup routine" post/ video, but I wear eyeliner and lipstick/gloss everyday to work. When I'm at home, I just wear some chapstick , which doesn't really qualify as makeup, but still!- who would want to see that! Plus I can't even glamourize it!

So that's that. Everything I said here/ spoke about are my views, and I don't expect all of you to think like me because that would be weird and creepy impossible. I respect your opinions and I expect you to respect mine. All that being said, I hope no one feels offended because of this post. These are just brutally honest answers to questions I'm being flooded with lately!

Even if you only wear liner and lipstick to work, you should still do it. Its always fun to see what everyone does. Especially glamorous, yes glamorous bloggers like you :)

    3. OMG Yayyy! I'm going to go and dance in the bathroom a little now!
I'm so, soo happy that you liked the MAC Msf! I've hit pan and I'll try the new rimmel stay matte and if I don't LOVE it (or even if I do) I have to go buy my msf again soon! But then again, there were barely any tms/bb creams in the market back then.
Thank God! I was wondering whats with the questions! haha Whatt? I've gone to a shop and clicked swatches! But I know right people here (including us) don't wear as much makeup on a regular basis and everyone seems to freeze when they see all my makeup lying around! Ooh I get asked if I buy all this just to review or do i even use it (by people I know)all the time too! :P

    4. haha:P
i got a sudden obsession with compacts some time back n kindof hoarded on too many :P so now im staying away frm them n using the ones i have. hitting pan on any seems like a dream atm :P
and yes on a normal day i would just wear some compact, lip gloss/tinted balm, liner/kajal. but ppl also judge a lot u know, they do tend to think we're all the time loaded with makeup etc ,just coz we have a makeup blog !!

But beceuse hyd is strangely getting humid, I want to try the rimmel stay matte! You have one no? I just order amber because the darkest shade was sold out! Hope it suits me. :S

  9. Stumbled onto you blog by accident from the random place that is called the Internet. You're a good writer and I enjoyed reading your words. :) Also, although this blog, as you say, may have been started for the purpose of reviews and writing, I like the fact that it encompasses YOU as a person. Adds dimension and insight. And it's always pretty cool learning about random people out there. ~N.
