Pond's White Beauty All-In-One BB+ Cream Review, Swatches, FOTD

I have a confession to make. I'm greedy. I'm very, very greedy for all the fun, good things in life. So soon after the Maybelline BB sticks came into my life and made me happy, I felt this annoying feeling (ya, felt the feeling). That I din't use a proper BB cream. But like you all know I got crazy busy in April, and towards the end of it when I finally did go to buy the Garnier BB cream, I spotted the Ponds one and got this instead!

So because it's Pond's and we're in India, it's either going to tell you that it'll make you fair, or claim to be an anti ageing cream. Now with their famous (now discontinued) Tinted Moisturiser being Anti Ageing and only a handful of beauty bloggers buying it (in bulk), I'm guessing they chose to reach out to a wider audience by just claiming to be a fairness cream this time around. Now, I've used the old Pond's TM only once, long back, from my mum's stash. So I can't really compare these 2. (Maybe I'll ask mum to!)
Let me just start by saying that I've been wearing this every single day since last to last Friday and I really like this product. It's a tinted moisturiser (like most "BB creams" in India) and it's a brilliant one at that. Good coverage for a tm, it evens out my skintone. It does brighten my skin and keeps it smooth throughout the day.
I have normal skin with dry patches and a little oily chin and the sides of my nose. And I have to moisturise before using this. I'll tell you why. It's not easy to blend! See, this comes in just one shade, and because it is pretty good on coverage, the colour is quite evident. Right now, since I'm tanned, I feel it's slightly fairer than me when not blended out properly. And instead of using a lot of this product (almost a pea sized amount to blend) which would leave me looking ghostly, I use a moisturiser. Plus It's not moisturising enough on it's own anyway. Hence, I moisturise, so it spreads well on my skin. I dot it all over my face and blend. And it looks great.
I wish that Ponds would launch it in a few colours like they did with their TM and this would be a cult favourite too.
It's light, and it stays on my face for a good 6-7 hours without any powdering on top, and I once did set it with my MAC msf for more coverage and it gave me a foundation like coverage with a naturally glow-y finish!
If you're dry skinned, you would need moisturiser underneath and if you're oily skinned  you would definitely need to set it with powder. For me, right now, it isn't easy to blend and I need moisturiser under it to help with the blending. It does highlight my dry patches though
I love that it has Spf 30 PA ++ in it, but that also means that it gives out that horrendous ghostly white cast in pictures, especially when freshly applied. Once set with powder, and once this sets, the pictures aren't bad.
It gives me a very natural finish. Not matte, but quite glow-ey. (Glow-ey being the key word and said thrice in this post!)
That's the 18g pack, and though I admit my hands are gigantic, see how tiny and fragile the tube looks! It also comes in a smaller 9g pack. I haven't ever travelled with this, in fact, I'm very scared it'll burst or something if I drop it (that's what I very naturally do with things. Drop them. All the time!)
That being said, I still love the packaging. It looks so much better than the Garnier's. And that made me buy this over that.
It smells like all the Pond's white beauty products (the cream, face wash etc).
One can control the product thanks to this nozzle. Below is a picture of a stubborn arm swatch (1 day old) that wouldn't leave me alone even after I used face wash, cleansing milk and soap on it. That's how well the Pond's BB cream concealed it. You see that the lighter swatch is almost gone.
Right now, I'm NC 42 in MAC and it's slightly whiter, when heavily applied (like in the picture) above. Update- Once it settles, in about 5 minutes, it matches my skin colour exactly.
It does brighten out my skintone, and doesn't look white once blended. But taking pictures with this is another story!

Price Rs 125 for 18gm and Rs 69 for 9gm.

I expected it to be a light tinted moisturiser that would suit the summers in Hyd, would sink into my skin and look natural, something that wouldn't make my face greasy, would last a decent amount of time and wouldn't break me out. I din't expect to give up on my regular moisturiser or sunscreen. It does all that and brightens my skin. It lasts longer than I expected it to. So all in all, I love it!
If you're skintone is medium and you want an everyday product, that conceals redness and brightens your skin while providing the protection of SPF 30 PA++, if you don't mind setting it with powder and/or using a moisturiser along with this, this is for you.
All in all, great budget tinted moisturiser that most medium skinned girls will love if the "fairness" claim isn't taken seriously!

  2. OMG! I AM NC42 as well!! LOL. (sorry for the excitement cause its not everyday you meet someone with an exact same skin shade XD). Great review, last pic looking very nice. I like the packaging of this one but they should bring out other shades. Not fair for it being only in one shade. I think I am going to skip this one since I already own asian bb creams which I need to start using up again lol.

    2. I have few samples left which I have been gifted and some bought from ebay long time back and I have the skinfood BB cream mushroom full size but I'v decided to sell that in my blog sale since my skin type is drying and I need more to a dewy finish rather then matte at the moment. Since our shade is the same I can confidently tell you that SKIN79 Hot pink, skinfood mushroom 02, skinfood aloe 02, Dr.Jart+ all in one 40SPF, american version of maybelline bb cream would totally suit your skin shade.

    1. Ugh that's a bummer! They need to start making more colours. Did you try the maybelline BB stick in Fawn it was just a ;little darker than my skintone. Probably would suit you much better!

  8. I'm always amazed at the fact that we, in Europe, try to look darker with fake tan but it seems to be the other way around in Asia.

    1. Haha it's just the typical case of the grass being greener on the other side Gaelle! But I think that now most Indians have changed their mindset about wanting to be "whiter". Just hope that the brands would come to terms with it too.

  10. I think this cream is pretty fine too, just that the shade is a little bit darker for me. And same goes for the Garnier BB cream.

    1. The Garnier one is dark for most people I know including me. I mix it with the lighter shade and it works fine. Thankfully this matches my skin to the T right now. When summers are gone, I'll probably have to find something lighter.

    1. It might be too dark for you and I doubt there are testers. If you still want to try it, you could try getting the smaller tube (Rs 69).

    1. Hi Sneha! While it is a great product, I'm highly doubtful it will suit complexions darker than mine. I'd recommend you try the Maybelline BB sticks at the store first to see if you like them.

  17. Great review, Ikya :) I'm off to get me some. I'm using the Garnier BB cream and it makes me look like a heavily tanned, painted stork, sheesh! Better than your awesome review is the price on these things ;)
